Øyo - Viking Axe
This is an authentic copy of a Viking axe found near the premises of Øyo AS at Geilo, Norway.
The original axe-is from the year 1000 A.D.
One believes that this was an all purpose axe, used as a weapon for hunting and everyday needs.
Scientific discoveries have established that iron was being extracted in our area from around year 0.
There is therefore reason to believe that axes have been produced in Geilo for more than 2000 years.
Remains of more than 900 coal pits and 90 iron mounds in the vicinity of our factory verify the long tradition of axe and tool industry.
The axe can be used for most purposes.
